Carol Peet Obituary

Family-Placed Funeral Notice

CAROL M. PEET Carol was born in Missouri to her parents Robert and Fern Lucky Marth, owners of a photography studio in Lake Worth, FL. She enjoyed living a full life of 77 years, and each chapter of her life was amazing. Carol Marth was a successful model in major magazines during the mid 1940's and 50's. She performed as a professional dancer on stage nationwide, starring in top hotels with the Merriel Abbott Dancers Group. Her first marriage in 1947 was to well known Chicago radio DJ celebrity Gil Newsome. They pioneered an early television program in 1954 featuring musical and entertainment guests. They hosted the show as co-stars on weekdays interviewing and performing with nationally known artists for years. She also enjoyed active water sports, even riding a jet ski in her 70's. Carol earned her own FAA pilot's license to travel extensively and fly the Cessna she co-owned during the 1950's. She then began her second marriage of over 40 years to David R. Peet, owner of Polyarns Plastics in New York as well as an ironworks fabrication company in Lake Worth. While married to him she continued modeling, breeding poodles and raising their children. They began living in Palm Beach County during the mid 1960's. She really enjoyed her last career in the camaraderie of great people for 9 years; she retired in 1997 from the Palm Beach's Bath and Tennis Club. Carol loved looking at the ocean while serving iced tea and coffee to members. The B&T staff was as supportive to her as family. She is a role model for her two daughters Victoria Irene (Rodney) Williams and Mary Elizabeth (PBSO LT. Marty ) Bechtel; grandchildren Garrett Williams and Jennifer (Chris) Baker; She also leaves behind two step-children and their families who she loved dearly; Nancy (John) Evans and daughter Sarah; as well as Dave (Pam) Peet and daughter Rene (Rick) Schulz and their children Russ and Rebecca. She talked of her gratitude for having many other close relatives, numerous friends of all ages, and bingo buddies like Ann, that have given their love and support during her life. Anyone who spent time with her already understands how she made people happy. As an outgoing person, she was fun to be around and had a knack for making people smile because she was always interested in how your day went. She suffered several health setbacks for various reasons including an auto accident that all required long periods of recuperation. Even with diminished health later in life, she had the admirable traits of still being able to love and really enjoy the simple things in life. The Peet family will receive their friends from 5 PM until 6 PM on Monday, March 14th with memorial services at 6 PM at the funeral home. Donations may be made in memory of Carol to the Palm Beach County Blood Bank. Dorsey - E. Earl Smith Memory Gardens Funeral Home 3041 Kirk Road Lake Worth, FL (561) 964-3772
