James CONANT Obituary

CONANT, James B. "Jay"
James B. "Jay" Conant, age 76, peacefully passed away on March 12, 2016 at his home in Jupiter, FL. Jay grew up in Johnstown, NY son of Eugene and Mildred Conant and brother of Sue and Luther Conant. Jay obtained his bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. After college, Jay moved to Boston, MA where he sold insurance for New England Life and won several awards including the prestigious Vanguard Award for excellence in sales. In 1979, Jay created National Insurance Advisory Services (NIAS), an innovative company that specializes in helping organizations save money on insurance premiums. 37 years later, NIAS continues to thrive, a testament to Jay's love for, and commitment to, the things he created. An accomplished trumpet player, Jay put himself through college by playing in various dance and concert bands. Jay dedicated himself to mastery of the sea, air, and land, navigating long boating voyages, piloting aircraft, and taking extended rides on his Harley. Jay was always a child at heart and shared his love for having fun with his children and grandchildren. Jay took great joy in teaching his kids how to fish, ski, play pool, build (and crash) hobby toys, and not take life too seriously. Jay was a loving and devoted father survived by his daughter Noelle, sons Chris (and wife Andrea), Brian (and wife Allisun), ex-wife of 25 years Denise and grandchildren Grace, Daisy, Charlotte, John, Miles and Calvin. Services will take place on Saturday, April 16th at 1:00PM at Jupiter First Church, 1475 Indian Creek Parkway, Jupiter, FL 33458. Rev Dr. David Kaiser-Cross will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jay's life. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Jupiter First Church.
