He married his high school sweetheart, Martha "Marty" Tyree and they shared 45 wonderful years together. He started his career in the JC Penney management program, but soon realized that he was destined for self-employment. His entrepreneurial skills helped him to launch many successful businesses. His first was an antique shop called the Trading Post in Perth, NY. In the early 70's he attended the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering in High Point, NC and after that he ran a successful auction business at the Trading Post. In 1979, he parlayed his interest in recreational vehicles into ownership of Wheels Unlimited, Inc., an RV and boat dealership also in Perth, NY. In 1988, Peter moved to Palm Beach Gardens, FL and shortly after returned to his roots as an auctioneer, establishing Fields Auction Service in Jupiter, FL. He is survived by his wife, Marty Fields; daughter, Sarah (Fields) D'Orazio and her husband, John; son, Peter L. Fields II and his wife, Robin (Griffin), granddaughters, Lauren P. Fields and Julia A. D'Orazio; grandsons, Jack R. and Peter L. Fields ; sister, Susan (Fields) Bankston and her husband, John, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend whose positive outlook on life was an inspiration for us all. Visiting hours with the family will be on Thursday, March 4 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 4350 PGA Blvd., Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410. Marty and family, We recently learned about Pete's death and are sincerely saddened by the news. We are thinking of you all and the memories we shared in New York... as well as the 'good ol' days' in the RV business. Our thoughts are with you.

We only met Mr. Fields briefly when Sarah and John were married, but to raise such a wonderful daughter as Sarah, he must have truly been a loving and devoted father. Sarah, John and Julia, we love you and wish we were there in person to support you. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. Hugs to each of you. Love, Chuck, Dianne, Christine, Chuckie & Alyssa
