Talbot J. NICHOLAS

NICHOLAS, Talbot J. Talbot Jacques Nicholas, a retired attorney, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. He was 87 years old. Talbot was born to Edith Katherine Nicholas, née Naar, and Dimitri Nicholas in the Bronx of New York City on October 22, 1929. After high school, he joined the Navy and served as an enlisted sailor. Thereafter, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Miami University of Ohio and a Bachelor of Laws degree (1956) from Columbia University Law School in New York City. Soon after becoming a lawyer, Talbot joined the Army as a Judge Advocate, serving tours of duty in Italy, Vietnam, Germany and Washington, DC. He became a specialist in procurement law and eventually was appointed as an Administrative Judge on the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals. In 1979, he retired from the Army as a Colonel. His Army career was followed by work as a trial lawyer with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and then as a legal consultant with Mobil Saudi Arabia in Jeddah. In 1987, he and his wife, Blandina, retired to Palm Beach Shores on Singer Island in south Florida. Talbot supported his community by serving as the Palm Beach Shores Town Attorney for several years. Talbot and Blandina met at Columbia University and were a true love story throughout their nearly 60 years of marriage. They loved the opera and knew all of the classic arias which they often sang to each other. Military life permitted them to travel the world, where they raised their family. Talbot was erudite and had eidetic memories of his past. He enjoyed telling tales of his youth and of his adventures overseas. He was very close to his only grandchild, Antonella. They held a special bond whenever they were together and could talk for hours at a time. Talbot was a devoted husband, father and friend, and he will be missed by all. Talbot was preceded in death by his wife, Blandina Nicholas, née LaBombarda, and by his brother, Alfred Nicholas. He is survived by his daughter, Olivia Nicholas Gentile, and her husband, Joe Gentile, by his son, Talbot J. Nicholas II, and his wife, Michele Bouziane, and by his beloved granddaughter, Antonella Nicholas. A memorial for Talbot will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Talbot J.
