Vivian FRIEDMAN Obituary

Vivian Friedman, 92. Born May 23, 1926 in Quincy, MA and passed away August 4, 2018, in Lantana, FL. Beloved wife to Jack Segal, then Seymour Friedman, and finally the adored life partner to Hy Finkelstein. She is survived by official and honorary children Philip Segal and wife Carolyn, Alan Segal, Gail Friedman, Jill deGuisto and partner Rich Mckechnie, and Susan Abrams, Vivian's 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and an abundance of nieces, nephews, and their families. Strong and independent, Vivian graduated as a member of the first class of women (1946) at Northeastern University (MA), worked as a mathematical engineer in Bridgeport (CT), then taught math at Bethpage (NY) High School for 30 years. She then retired to Cape Cod (MA) and South Florida. In her final years, she took a part time gig dealing blackjack for her retirement community (FL). She played tennis into her 70s and enjoyed swimming into her 80s. Having a keen and inquisitive mind, she was always asking the hows and whys of science and technology, and loved sudoku, crosswords, and bridge. A celebration of Vivian's life will be held at 2PM, Wednesday, August 8, at The Carlisle Senior Living Community, 460 E. Ocean Avenue, Lantana FL, 33462. Donations to the school of your choice would honor Vivian's dedication to education.
