Janet Ann Monke
March 7, 1938 - April 11, 2024
BLOOMINGTON - Janet Ann Monke, 86, of Bloomington, formerly of Champaign, passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at her home.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington with Pastor Chuck Bahn officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
A private family interment will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to OSF Hospice or Illinois Cancer Care.
Janet was born on March 7, 1938, in Robinson, IL, a daughter to Robert H. and Grace (Whitmer) Marbry. She married A. John Monke on May 21, 1960, in Robinson. He preceded her in death on November 10, 2009. Also preceding her in death were her parents and brother, Ed Marbry.
Surviving are her daughters: Jean (Steve) Sweeney of Champaign, Sue (Tony) Griffin of Jacksonville, and Kathy Monke of Chicago; grandsons: Andrew (Liz) Sweeney of Fitchburg, WI, Jacob (Abby) Sweeney of Indianapolis, IN, Tom Griffin of St. Louis, MO, Jack Griffin of Chicago, and Joe Griffin of Chicago; and great-grandchildren: Liam, Ellis, and Evanne.
Janet and her husband raised their family in Champaign and then later moved to Bloomington. She worked in Administration for the Normal Township Assessors Office for several years. In her free time, Janet loved golfing, keeping up with the University of Illinois Fighting Illini and St. Louis Cardinals games, and also spending as much time as she could with her beloved family and friends. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Jans Family, I am so sad for all of you. The memories of all the fun we shared with Jan and Pat over the yeas make me laugh. Jan and Pat are probably having a laugh at us down here trying to figure life out !!!! Jan always had a special laugh I will always treasure...you had to laugh with her!!
