William Blewett Obituary
March 31, 1943 - July 1, 2025
William T. Blewett, Jr. passed away at age 82 on July 1, 2025. He was born in Dubuque, Iowa, on March 31, 1943, to William Tethers Blewett and Ruth Marie Blewett. He began learning to speak before he met his father who was serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. Bill Blewett attended public schools in Dubuque and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1961. He was big brother to Tom and David. Over the years he helped his brothers learn new things like riding a bicycle, hiking the hills in Dubuque to have adventures or learning how to drive a car, and going to car races. It was during this time that he began an interest in 1957 Chevrolets and the start of a lifelong hobby. He was a proud founding member of Tri-Chevy Association of Joliet, Illinois for over 50 years. As a family, they also traveled to many conventions around the United States with the National Nomad Club, then with the Chevrolet Nomad Association, meeting many dear friends and enjoying our beautiful country.
Bill is survived by his wife, Leta, of 59 years; his sons, Donald, of Wapella, Illinois, and Kennth of Bloomington, Illinois; grandsons, Joshua of Clinton, Illinois, and Jacob of Wapella, Illinois; a very special aunt, Rosemary Bennett of Wabasso, Minnesota; brothers, Thomas (Cindy) Blewett of Verona, Wisconsin, David (Bonnie) Vandre-Blewett of Poynette, Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews.
Cremation rights have been accorded. The family will receive family and friends at Carmody Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, 1800 Eastland Drive, Bloomington, Illinois, 61704, on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (309) 663-1968.
