Alice Hejtmanek Obituary

Alice Marie Hejtmanek, 93, was born April 30, 1921, in Topeka, Kansas, and passed away September 20, 2014. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pasadena, where she was active for over 65 years. A graduate of Kansas State University with a degree in home economics, she served as a public school teacher for over 30years in Kansas and Texas. She taught in the Pasadena School District for 20 years, mostly at South Houston High School. In 1947, she married Frank Henry Hejtmanek and they were married for 44 years. Alice Marie was a dedicated community volunteer, serving as PTA president of Pearl Hall Elementary and an avid gardener involved with the Pasadena Garden Club. She also worked with a local hospice, read to children in local schools, and delivered meals to the elderly for Meals on Wheels. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank Henry Hejtmanek, and her parents, Frank and Sophie Hejtmanek of Delia, KS. Survivors are her two sons, Frank Hejtmanek and wife Agnes of Pasadena, and Louis Hejtmanek and wife Debra of Shreveport, LA, grandchildren Frank Raymond Hejtmanek and wife Lynne, Andrew Hejtmanek and wife Krystal, Catherine Schroeder and husband Shawn, Elizabeth Marchese and husband Greg, Bethany Pepin and husband Jeff, Rebecca McCourt and husband Sean, Diana Hejtmanek, and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Frank Raymond Hejtmanek and Andrew Hejtmanek, grandson-in-laws, Greg Marchese, Sean McCourt, and nephews, Ottmar Schimek, Jr., and Ron Hejtmanek. The family will receive friends at Grand View Funeral Home on Friday, September 26, 2014 from 5PM to 7PM. Funeral Services will be at Grand View Funeral Home on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10AM. Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park. Rev. Curtis Matthys will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 1062 Fairmont Pwy, Pasadena, TX 77502.

Dear Frank & Louis: You are in my thoughts & prayers as you deal with the loss of your beloved mother. She will certainly be missed. I will always remember how warm and nice she was to me. Agnes,I was so sorry to hear about your Mother-in-law passing away.When I saw her name I remembered you and your son Frank from Mother's Day out at Frist Presbyterian.
