Rayne - Funeral services will be held at St. Leo IV Catholic Church, Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. for Angela Berken Leger, 83 who died Monday, September 5, 2011 in Roberts Cove.
Interment will be in the St. Leo Cemetery in Roberts Cove.
Surviving are children, Robert Leger, Jr. and wife Debbie of Tulsa, OK, Pamela Harmon and husband Tony of Branch, Carolyn Chontas and husband Bill of Dickinson, TX, Sandra Epps and husband Glenn of Roberts Cove and Richard Leger and wife Angela of Rosharon, TX, 8 Grandchildren Jeremy Harmon, Melissa Harmon Leblanc, Ami Leger Trupia, Skip, Sherri and Ryan Leger, Sam Epps and Brittiny Case; 7 Great Grandchildren Mackenzie, Shea and Landon Harmon, Rylee Leblanc, Michael and Jace Leger, and Liza Trupia; four sisters, Christina Hornsby, Mary Harrington, Josephine Thevis and Rita Hoffpauir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eugene Leger, Sr.; her parents Johann Casper and Thecla Thevis Berken; four brothers, Alois, Herman, Vincent and Rienie Berken and two sisters Anne Louise Berken and Elizabeth Klein.
She was born Saturday, September 17, 1927 in Rayne, LA, Daughter of the late Johann Casper Berken and the late Thecla Thevis.
She attended St. Leo's Catholic School, Roberts Cove, LA. and St. Michaels, Crowley, LA. She was aCharter Member of St. Leo Sodality, Alter Society in Roberts Cove, LA. and St. Hyacinth Ladies Alter Society in Deer Park, TX.
Friends will be received 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 7 and Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 8:00 A.M. until Service at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., Rayne, LA.
Angela is well known to her family and friends for her beautiful tatting. Her tatting, flowers and her family, were her greatest love.
