On Monday, February 13, 2012, Anna Mary Hobbs, 86, of Austin, Texas died peacefully in her south Austin home, surrounded by family and loved ones. Born October 12, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of Joseph Nolan of Wexford, Ireland, and Catherine Kelly Nolan of Tipperary, Ireland, Mary was the eldest of four daughters, Eleanor Donoghue, Evelyn Westbay, and Patsy Edwards. Mary met Naval Gunner's Mate Dwight Hobbs, stationed on the U.S.S. Beatty at New York Harbor, during the war. They later married and raised their children in Houston, relocating to the Woodlands in 1969, then Austin in 2000 to be near their children. Mary is survived by her sister, Eleanor, of Brooklyn, her son, Patrick Hobbs, two daughters, Kathy Keller and Teri Hobbs, and son-in-law, Richard Kertson, all of Austin, grandchildren Dwight Hobbs (wife Kristen), Keesha Dominguez (husband Andrew) and Noah Kertson (wife Cecily) and eight beautiful great-grandchildren.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Pampe and staff, and Dr. Case, Linda Crabtree, Alma Vasquez, Delia Quiroz, and Pastor Jason, and request memorials to Hospice Austin, the Brothers of the Holy Cross and St. Paul's Catholic Church in lieu of flowers. A service will take place at 2pm Saturday, February 18th at the Hobbs family home.

A life well lived, and a memory well kept; to Teri, Patrick and family, Mary's legacy lives on in each of you. Her life was a brief visit from an angel now gone home. God bless and keep each of you until you see her again.

Teri, Patrick and Family,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. Though I didn't get to meet her, I can see the kindness and beauty in her photo and how much of a strong resemblance you have to her. Through you, a piece of her continues to live on. Praying for comfort and peace for all of you in the days, weeks and months ahead as you struggle to fill the void she leaves behind.

Sending lots of love and prayers you way. I have known Patrick and Teri since they have started working here at St. Edward's University. I was able to meet Mary a few times. She was always a warm and loving person. Who always seem to smile. Love to all your family during this difficult time.

My sympathies to the family. I have a lot of great memories of Mary and Hobbs. They were a very special couple. Mary was one of the most beautiful woman I knew. Great fun with Pat and Kathy. Teri was just a little bitty thing when I last saw her.
