Barbara Davis Obituary

Barbara Maud Cooze Davis, 92, of Deer Park, TX, died November 27, 2014. She was born on April 27, 1922, in New York City, the second child of Mabel Elizabeth (Jacques) Cooze and Harold Winchester Cooze. Barbara passed away in her home in Deer Park, TX.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Rufus C. Davis, Jr.; her sister, Natica (Cooze) Bahar, and her parents. She is survived by her three children: Natica Dahlkamp, Cheryl Cisler, and Brian Davis; by 9 grandchildren: William Dahlkamp, Michael Dahlkamp, Erin Cisler, Richard Cisler, William Cisler, Stephen Cisler, Natica Cooper, Megan Farley, and Jared Davis; 8 great-grandchildren who live in the Houston area; nieces Donna Henn and Barbara Hartenberger ; and other family members Jennifer Lawrence, John Hartenberger, Ashley Vonderhorst, and Bill Dahlkamp.

In 1940, Barbara met R.C., her husband of 66 years in Brownwood, TX while visiting an aunt. They married in September of 1944. In 1951, they settled in Pasadena where they lived for the next fifty-four years before moving to Deer Park nine years ago.

She was active in her church, the First Presbyterian Church of Pasadena where she sang in the choir, served as children's choir director, and was active in Presbyterian Women for many decades. In her senior years, she loved playing golf and tennis with her friends at Baywood Country Club. When not on the greens or courts, she and R.C. could be found playing bridge with their friends. At The Waterford in Deer Park, she organized a bridge playing group and even taught bridge to some of the residents. She was an avid fisherman in the mountains of New Mexico where she love to spend her summers.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 pm on December 7, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church, 4647 Preston Road, Pasadena, TX. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service in the Narthex. The family is privileged to have you participate in this celebration of Barbara's long and amazing life. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Organ Fund.

Barbara will be missed alot. She was an amazing woman and enjoyed singing in the choir with her at church. Barbara always had some great stories that we enjoyed. May God bless her family at this time of her loss.
