Funeral Services for Chris Parrish were held at Grand View Funeral Home at 11 AM on Saturday, July 23, 2016 with Dr. Jim Overton officiating. Interment followed at Grand View Cemetery where she wwas laid to rest with her family.
Mabel Christine Truitt was born in Brownwood, Texas to George Edward Truitt and Sue Agnes Mayfield Truitt on June 29, 1925. She went to be with our Lord on July 19, 2016. Chris was the eldest of 8 children in the Truitt Family. She is survived by her Sister, Jo Helton of Smithville. Son-in-law, John Clark. And a huge extended family of Nieces, Nephews and their families.
Chris was preceded in death by her loving husband John Mann Parrish; Her Children Connie Clark, John Mann Parrish II, Deborah Parrish, Kimberly Parrish; and grandson John Christian Parrish. Also her sisters, Dixie Kimbro, Barbara Martin; and brothers George Truitt, Burman Truitt, Thomas Truitt and Cole Truitt.
Chris worked for Nabisco Brands for over 35 years and was an active member of the Retirees Club until her health no longer allowed the travel to Houston. She loved her church, basketball, music, sewing and sending cards to those that she loved. She was raised in Indian Territory near Delaware, Oklahoma but moved to Texas where she lived in Pasadena and raised her family. She moved to Smithville with her sister Jo in 1998. Chris was proud to be a member of South Avenue Baptist Church where she joined in 1957, and remained a member until her death. She was a woman of extraordinary faith who showed so much grace during the most difficult moments. She was a great example to those who loved her.
