A "Celebration of Life" service for Craig Nelson Sutton, 65, of Pasadena, Texas, will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. for family and friends in the Willie G's Restaurant located at 2100 Harborside in Galveston, Texas.
Craig Nelson Sutton was born on August 24, 1950 in Prentiss, Mississippi, to parents, Doris Earlene and Max Truett Sutton, the second of three children. He and his family moved to Pasadena, Texas in 1953. He graduated from Pasadena High School in 1968 and attended Stephen F. Austin University and the University of Houston.
Craig was an outstanding athlete playing Little League baseball and football from an early age. He also spent much time in Galveston and other areas of the Texas Gulf Coast fishing, sailing, and surfing throughout his life. Some of his fondest memories are of his grandfather's ranch in the Texas Hill Country just outside of Dripping Springs, where he hunted and on the Comal and Guadalupe Rivers where he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Craig is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Marilyn Sutton of Livingston; sister and brother-in-law, Stacy and Dorinda Chowns of Crosby; and three nephews, Justin Olree and Kellen Olree of Crosby and Mark Sutton of Lago Vista as well as a host of life-long friends who are like "family" to him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider contributions to the American Cancer Society or a special cause of your choice in Craig's honor.

"Roos" will be sorely missed. I had the tremendous honor of calling Rooster my friend. He was one of a kind for sure, and a straight shooter, as he would say. I'll always remember him with fondness and remember the great times we shared. Rest in peace my brother!

Craig was my first best friend. We started First grade together and graduated High School together. Especially in the elementary days, we were very close. I wish that I had spent more time with him later in life but every time we spoke, we could pick right up on our old friendship. Goodbye Old Friend.
