Curtis Rudolph Cooper

1938 - 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Curtis R. Cooper. He peacefully departed from this world on July 24, 2024, at the age of 86 in LaPorte, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Curtis was born February 3, 1938, in Corbin, La. Son of Fred and Lula Mae Cooper; and brother to Edward and Joe Cooper. He is survived by his four children, Karen Martin, Christy Cooper, Cindy Hartt, Wade Cooper; and their extended families. Curtis was a beloved husband to Nancy Kohler Cooper, his high school sweetheart and wife for almost 50 years before her passing in 2013.

He graduated with a Masters degree in education from Sam Houston State Teachers College, where he was a founding member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Curtis was an educator in the Pasadena Independent School District as a teacher, coach and assistant principal. As a school administrator, Curtis was a leader, mentor, and role model to students and staff alike. His commitment to excellence and teamwork left an indelible mark on the school community he served. He later worked in city management with the City of Pasadena, the City of West University Place and the City of Conroe, until his retirement.

Curtis was a man loved by all, respected by many, and cherished by those whose lives he touched. His legacy of love, kindness, and integrity will continue to shine brightly in our hearts and memories, guiding us through our sadness and inspiring us to live our lives with purpose and passion. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.

A Memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
