Deborah Kay Hargis went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2016 in San Antonio at the age of 67. She was born to Chester Arthur Hargis and Thelma Perkins Hargis on June 6, 1948 in Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and survived by her brother, Patrick Hargis, of Pasadena, Texas. Deborah graduated from Pasadena High School in 1966 and went on to the University of Houston where she received a BS degree in Education. After teaching school for 5 years in the Houston area, Deborah enrolled in Boston University and received her Doctorate of Education. Over the next 25 years, she served as an Education and Management Consultant for corporations in New York City NY, Atlanta GA, St. Petersburg FL, and Greenville SC. In 2010, she moved to San Antonio to work in the Academic Center for Excellence in Teaching at the University of Texas Health Science Center. She retired in 2012 and is the author of "My Huckleberry Friend"...the story of a shared journey between the author and her severely abused dog to collectively triumph over tragedy. A memorial service is planned for June 25th at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 1062 Fairmont Parkway in Pasadena, TX.
Because Deborah's greatest passion in life was her precious dog, Huckleberry, her dying wish was for her book to be available to everyone. We will be taking paid orders at the memorial, or you may email at [email protected] to order a copy.

I am so grateful that we were able to reconnect last October and enjoyed our planning conversations and our new friendship after the event. I am so very sad that you had to endure the pain at the end of your life. I will miss you!
