Geraldine "Jeri" Draper, 83, passed away on August 15, 2012 in Pasadena, Texas with her loving family at her side. Geraldine was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 11, 1929 to parents, Abel and Elisabeth Downie. She devoted her life to her family, her kids and grandkids. She was the perfect grandma, helping to raise grandkids along the way. She loved to travel the beautiful roads of Texas and considered it her "cruising". She loved old movies, especially Westerns, and loved trying her hand at the nickel slots in Coushatta. Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde Davis Draper, Sr in 1985, and her son, Clyde " Rusty" Jr. in 2004. She is survived by four children, Nanci Szydlik and husband John, Joi Pace, Charles B. Draper and Elisabeth " Lisa" Sartor and husband Mark. Geraldine is further survived by seven grandchildren; Ryan Young, Brian Pace, Crystal Pace Cuellar, Laura Pace Trevino, Caitlin Draper, Samantha Draper and Shelley Draper Olsen and three great grandchildren. Left to mourn also is Geraldine's best friend of over 50 years, Dorthea " Dottie" Davis or "Miss D" as she was called by the family.
The family acknowledges with a grateful heart, Kindred Hospital Bay Area and Dr. Vipul Patel for their continuous loving care of their mom until her passing. In lieu of usual remembrances, the family encourages donations to the Scottish Rite Hospital 2222 Welborn Street in Dallas, Texas 75219 or online at www.tsrhc.org.
A memorial service will be held on Monday August 20th, 2012 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Rosewood Funeral Home 3939 Pasadena Blvd. in Pasadena, Texas. Geraldine will be inurned at Houston National Cemetery with her husband in a private family service.
