Edwin Spade passed away on Saturday, the 25th of May, 2013, at the age of 83. Edwin was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on January 17, 1930. Edwin is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Barbara Lee (Hoyle) Spade, his children: Sandy Shields, Carol Hagenswold and her husband Paul, Gigi Gresham and her husband Brad, Laurie Kastrup, Steve Shugart, Carla Fritch, Debbie Burris and her partner Alan, Tina Ferguson and her husband Bill, Richard Wilson and his wife Sarah, and April Thomson and her husband Jeremey. He has twenty-two grandchildren: Billy, Tracey, Joshua, Ryan, Bryson, Brock, Kallie, Kristan, Tommy, Melissa, Chris, Mark, Shaun, Michael, Angela, Amy, William, Cassie, Andrew, Krystal, Nick and Gage. He also has many great grandchildren and many loving family members. Ed was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all. He is preceded in death by his parents Virginia (Ginny) Jean Mead and William Gerard Popma and his brother Donald Fredrick Popma. He served proudly in the United States Air Force from 1947 until 1951. Ed had an amazing gift for enjoying life and celebrating with family and friends. He had a lifelong love of telling jokes and making everyone laugh. He never met a stranger or made an enemy. His family will remain strong from the incredible examples he set. As a devoted Christian man, family takes comfort knowing he is with his Lord and Savior. A graveside service was held May 31 at La Porte Cemetery in La Porte, Texas.
