It is with great sadness that the family of John Boice announces his passing on Wed., November 1, 2017 at the age of 73. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
John, formerly of Irwin, PA was born February 9, 1944 in Greensburg, PA. He attended Rollins College in Florida, was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a former businessman who ran a successful bakery, the Cookie Jar in Deer Park, Texas.
He loved Texas, which was his home for 40 plus years. He enjoyed deep sea fishing with his grandchildren, golfing with his Moose buddies; but mostly spending time with his family.
He was an active community member of the local Moose and was awarded the Valued Veteran of the Year award this year.
John is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Linda, his children Rena Lake and husband Troy, Thomas Edinburgh and wife Lisa, Kristi Maywood and husband Joseph, grandchildren Summer, Justin, Austin, Crystal, Melissa, Joshua, Hannah, Nathan, Kristian, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, a brother Gerald Boice and his wife Debbie and sister Judith DeMarchi.
John was preceded in death by his father John Boice, his mother Josephine Cortese, his mothers-in-law Ruby Sorgea and Pat Welch and his special grandson Jeremy.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4th at the Moose Lodge in Pasadena at 3PM.
Memorial donations in memory of John can be made to the Moose Lodge 1721, 3919 Pansy St., Pasadena, Texas 77505.
