John Rudolph "Rudy" Henson, 82, of Deer Park, Texas passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015. Rudy was born August 5, 1932 in Cuero, Texas to William and Josephine Henson. He graduated from Cuero High School in 1950 and from Texas A&M University in 1954. After graduation he was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, eventually achieving the rank of Captain in 1968 before being honorably discharged. His career was spent working in the Aerospace Industry and he had the privilege of working on the Apollo 11 mission that landed the first man on the moon. Above all, Rudy was a loving and devoted husband and father. His greatest sources of pride were his family and children. Rudy was preceded in death by his parents William and Josephine and his brother, Willie Henson and wife, Connie. Rudy is survived by his wife, Pam Henson; four children, Roderick Henson and partner, Paula Redmon of Seabrook, Texas, Karen Gilmore and husband Mike of Deer Park, Texas, Melissa Dixon and husband Lorin of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Stephanie Rayos and husband Magnus of The Woodlands, Texas; seven grandchildren Chase and Noah Gilmore, Rachel and Brian Dixon, and Gabriel, Benjamin and John Rayos; sister Gloria Skinner and husband, Dick, and several nieces and nephews.. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Deer Park Funeral Directors Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Jim Overton officiating.
