Joseph Mark Smith, "Marc", 59, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 7, 2018. He was born on July 4, 1959 in Pasadena, Texas to James Thomas Smith Sr. and Harriet Louise Sweeney Smith. Marc was upfront, honest, and fair with everyone he knew. He offered guidance to those who needed it and would help them get on the right path. Marc was strong in his faith and devoted to his church, St. John of the Cross Catholic Church; where he was also a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was the Sargent of Arms for the Soldiers for Jesus. Marc had a wonderful accomplishment of sobriety for the past 22 years. He was very knowledgeable in the subject of History and was also a Civil War reenactor. Marc was well known in the Pasadena area, serving as a little league coach and referee over the years. Marc touched the lives of many and missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents James Sr. and Harriet Smith; brothers, James Smith Sr. and Billy Smith; and nephew, James Smith IV.
Marc is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Kim; daughter, Amy Sanders and husband Mark; son, David Smith; brother, Russell Smith; nieces, Wanda Smith-Diorio, Teresa Ferrell, Alex Smith, Erin Bennett, and Shelby Smith; nephews, James Smith III and Billy Smith Jr; and a host of extended family and friends.
A visitation for family and friends was held on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass began at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 20000 Loop 494, New Caney, TX 77357.
