Mack Reid Obituary

Emmett Denton Reid, Jr, better known as Mack Reid, 95, of Deer Park, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 15, 2017. He was born in Shady Grove, TX on March 30, 1922. A son of late Emmett Denton Reid, Sr. and Luta (Muckelroy) Reid.He was preceded by his loving wife, Milred Madeline (Kelly) Reid of 61 years of marriage, a sister, Maude Kerr, brothers, Lyn and Clyde Reid.He is survived by his only child Randall Mack Reid of Deer Park, TX, niece Colleen (Reid) Barley of Lufkin, TX and nephew, Randy Clyde Reid of Lufkin, TX. He had two adopted great grandchildren Sandie Lee Luttrell of Caldwell, TX and AJ Whitney of Magnolia, TX. He also had many good and caring friends, Sandra Thomas of Magnolia, TX, Bob Bratcher of Deer Park, TX, John Saavedra of Deer Park, TX, Flynt Blackwell of Deer Park, TX and Virginia Smith of Deer Park, TX. He worked as a mill wright at Rohm and Hans for 32 years where he retired. For over 50 years he was a Life and Endowed member of the Deer Park Masonic Lodge 1362 and a member of Serenity Lodge 1462, he was a 32nd degree Mason, York Rite and Scottish Rite, and a member of the Houston Arabian Shriner Temple. Mack was a past Worshipful Master of Deer Park Masonic Lodge, served as District Deputy Grand Master, Grand Junior Steward, Grand Chaplain, Grand Representative and served on numerous committees all for the Grand Lodge. He enjoyed volunteering with the city of Deer Park Meals on Wheels program. He was an avid player of bridge, dominos, and golf. Visitation will be Friday, September 22, 2017 from 4PM to 7PM at Grand View Funeral Home. Funeral service will on held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 12:30PM at Monument Baptist Church, 3602 East Boulevard, Deer Park, TX 77536. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Alzheimer's Association in loving memory of Mack and Mille Reid.

Mack's presence will be greatly missed at Park Place Commandery #106, where he was a Past Commander. We knew he was ill, and we missed him being able to come to meetings. He is now with his beloved Millie, whom he adored. May they both Rest In Peace + and Rise In Glory!!!! Amen!!!

Mack, you made it easier for me to ease into retirement when I first met you at the Senior Center. When we sat down to talk, a game of some kind always seemed to breakout.
