Maxie E. Gilmore, age 78 passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013. Maxie was born on November 7, 1934 to Leslie (Pete) and Hilda (Shorty) Gilmore who preceded him in death. Maxie was a lifetime resident of Pasadena, TX and was a member of the 1953 graduating class of Pasadena High School. Upon graduation Maxie was awarded a four year scholarship to Midwestern State University, Wichita Falls, TX. His talent and love of music would serve him well. While proudly serving his country in the United States Army and stationed in Germany, Maxie was assigned to the 82nd Army Band. Upon returning to Pasadena Maxie worked for Shell Refinery, the City of Pasadena and retired from Pipe Fitters Local #211 after more than 30 years of service.
Maxie is survived by sons, Maxie B. (Bart) Gilmore and partner Jolie Gana; Darrell L. Gilmore; step-daughter, Michelle (Missy) Glover; step-son, Kent Maree and step-son Barry Barnett; granddaughter, Myranda Gilmore and mother, Barbara Gilmore; grandson, Justin Gilmore. He is also survived by two great grandchildren, Sarah Anslum and Jaida Pearl-Gilmore. Maxie is survived by five sisters, Rona Reid, Judy Clark, Sharon Royal and husband Lance, Sandy Norville and husband Pat and Candy Brabham; one brother George Gilmore and wife Donna, best friend, Jerry Camack and many nieces and nephews who loved him.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Bart Gilmore, Darrell Gilmore, George Gilmore, Kent Maree, Jerry Camack and Tom Reid.
The family wishes to especially thank his long time friend and caregiver, Sherry Gill, who so lovingly cared for our loved one during is illness.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Rosewood Funeral Home in Pasadena, TX. Graveside services and interment will be 2:30 pm Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Houston National Cemetery.
