Melba was the first person I meet at NASA. I worked as a Summer Intern in the Astronaut Office and she quickly showed me the ropes and helped in any way she could. Yes, I loved the laugh, charm and intellect! She was a wonderful person and will not be forgotten! May the Lord continue to bless and keep the family is my prayer.

Deep condolences on Melba's passing. Melba and I both tended to stay late in the astronaut office, and that's when she was fun and funny; she lit up many long days with a warm glow. We've lost a treasured gentle spirit. Wishing peace to the family.

My deepest sympathy to the family for your loss of a great lady. Melba and I were co-workers at NASA for many years. Melba could really light up a room! Her laughter was contagious. We will all miss her. I'm certain she is making heaven a little brighter with her presence.

As an Astronaut in training and currently in Russia I so regret that I will not be able to convey my condolences personally. I loved Melba and on many occasions would spend much time talking with her as she worked in the Astronaut mailroom. One of the few people I've ever met who shared the same first name as my Mother and Grandmother, I felt a special connection with Melba and her passing leaves me feeling much loss. My sincerest condolences to the entire family … Butch Wilmore
