Longtime Pasadena citizen, Michael Blake Fincher, of Pasadena Texas passed away on October 3, 2016 at the age of 64. He was born August 21, 1952 in Port Hueneme, California to Sam and Evelyn Fincher. Michael graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in 1970, and received an Associate's Degree from San Jacinto College in 1985. Mike served his country in the US Navy during the Viet Nam War, aboard the Aircraft Carrier, USS Hancock, CVA 19. Taking part in Operation Eagle Pull, the evacuation of Phnom Penh on 12 April 1975 and Operation Frequent Wind, the evacuation of Saigon on 29-30 April 1975. From 12-14 May, she was alerted, although not utilized, for the recovery of SS Mayagüez, a US merchantman with 39 crew, seized in international waters on 12 May by the Communist Khmer Rouge; before heading home. Something unique about Mike being part of the final cruise of the Hancock was that his Father, Sam Fincher, served as a Plank-owner on the Hancock. Before leaving the Navy, Mike served with P-3 Orion Aircraft Squadron, VP-48 being deployed both at NAS Adak, AK, and NAS Moffett Field, CA. He was a longtime member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Pasadena. Everyone who knew Mike knew he had his Lord Jesus Christ in his heart. He was a long time Christian, and studied his Bible daily. He is survived by his two brothers: James (Jimmy) Aubrey Fincher - his wife (Cathy), Marvin Lewis (Lew) Fincher - his wife (Meresa); two nieces: Gwynne Marie Fincher and Jamie Lynn Fincher; a nephew, Travis James Fincher; and one Grand Niece, Calleigh Rose Fincher; Uncle Gene Fincher and wife (Christine); Aunt Geraldine Fincher; Aunt Helen Spencer; First cousins Mack Barnhill, Peggy Hoffpauir, Debra Thurman, Tina Fincher, Don Giffin, Linda Lewis; along with many lifelong friends. I want to thank all of those that attended my brother's service at the First Baptist Church in Pasadena, TX. Pastor, Roland Hill, Mike 's long-time Sunday School Teacher presided over the beautiful service. I am so proud of our nephew for putting together the heart-touched personal video of Mike's life.
Honestly, I am having a hard time finding words to write here right now, so please excuse me.
Mike was a loving brother,Uncle, and Great Uncle, and tried to show his love as often as he could. Even though disabled and struggled to walk, he always did his best to keep up with his staff or rollator, but still fell time to time. Mike was a proud man, who hated to use the word no, and showed it even after death, by donating his body for organ, skin, tissue, and other parts to help others in desperate need to keep living and or improve their life.
Mike was a "Giver", and never a taker... He tried his very best to look at Christ his Savior, for guidance in doing the right thing; oh yes, Mike was a saved Christian, no doubt about that.
Today he lives in our hearts, and as long as we remember, he will live through us in our memories.
God Bless you Mike, my brother, Amen.

Mike was a supper nice gentleman that I did we did not get to know well but knew he was an overall good guy the world needs more of. Understated, but full of caring for others and just being a good person to all around. It is sad to see someone like Mike leave the world this early but am sure he made a difference in many peoples lives.
