Sharon Lee (Cook) Rice was born on April 11, 1950, in Pasadena, Texas, to Luther Leon Cook and Katherine Gertrude Vorderbruggen Cook. Surrounded by her family, she passed on January 5, 2026, at her home in Bryan, Texas.

Sharon was the devoted mother to Louis Johnson, Carl Johnson (spouse Kim), Marcia Montague (spouse Robert), Carmen Mota, Elton Rice, and Alex Rice; and the wife of William Rice. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters, Bonita Cheryl Cook and Donna Marie Cook Puente. Sharon was a loving aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother to 22 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her great joy.

She graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena and later attended the University of Houston. Sharon spent much of her working life as a secretary, serving in a variety of office settings where she was known for her reliability and dedication.

A strong and resilient woman, Sharon worked tirelessly to care for her children and spoke often-and proudly-of the people they became.

Sharon was also deeply creative. She expressed her talents through sewing dresses, crafting wreaths, and arranging flowers, generously sharing her gifts with family and friends.

Music and dancing were among Sharon's greatest joys. During her daughters' childhoods, she could often be found dancing with them around the house. Even in her final days, she continued to share that joy, dancing with her daughters while resting in bed.

Sharon will be lovingly remembered for her uplifting sense of humor that never failed to make everyone around her laugh. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Viewing will take place on January 22nd, at 9 a.m., with services to begin at 10 a.m., at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan, Texas.
