Mr. Olidie Joseph Abshire Sr.
Olidie Joseph Abshire Sr, 85, was born on December 26, 1928 in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, to Ovie and Philomena Broussard Abshire. God called him home on October 23, 2014 in Pasadena, Texas.
Olidie graduated in 1946 from Gueydan High School in Gueydan, Louisiana and married Margaret Helen Murphy in Gueydan, Louisiana on June 19, 1948 after serving two years as a cook in the United States Navy.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ovie & Philomena Abshire, Sister Gussie Gorris, Daughter Patricia Ann Abshire Bland, Son, Olidie J. "Mann" Abshire Jr. and Granddaughter Karyn Danise Bland Day, Olidie loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his wife and loving companion of 66 years, Margaret Helen Murphy Abshire; Daughter, Beth Branson and husband, James Branson; Daughter in-law, Veda Abshire, Son in-law, Terry O. Bland; Grandchildren, Joseph O. Bland and wife Kristin; Bryan C. Abshire and wife Amanda; James Daniel Branson and Michael Aaron Branson; Great-Grandchildren, Arden, Zane, Maddox, Minxia and Violet Bland; Blane and Cole Abshire.
Mr. Abshire, a member of South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas since 1995, enjoyed attending Sunday School and church and avidly participating in the Senior Adult Activities and other ministries of the church.
Visitation for Olidie Abshire is scheduled for 1:00 P.M., Monday, October 27, 2014 at South Main Baptist Church, located at 4300 East Sam Houston Pkwy S. Pasadena TX 77505 followed immediately by the funeral services at 2:00 P.M. and interment at Grand View Memorial Park, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505.

We were saddened to learn of Mr. Olidie's death. Although we were not close friends or family, we have always been grateful to the Abshire's for the love and care they extended to the Woods family during Karen's lengthy battle with cancer. May the grief at his passing soon become treasured memories for his loving family.
