Paul Hogue Obituary

Paul Wayne Hogue went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, September 18, 2017. He leaves in this life his beloved wife of 27 years, Bernadette Tasler Hogue and daughters Cheryl Seabranch (Barry) and Holly Troyer (Aaron). He leaves behind grandchildren, Natalie Troyer, Shelby and Hanna Seabranch, Ryan Seabranch; his sister Connie Mitchell (Tom); sister-in-law, Sandy Hogue and several nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruth and Joe C. Hogue Sr., and his brother, Joe Jr.

Paul was born on May 4, 1945 in Pascagoula, MS. His family moved to Pasadena when he was 3 years old. He graduated from Pasadena High School, class of 1963, and then from the University of Houston with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and later with a Master in Business Administration. Paul served in the US Army in Vietnam. He spent 26 years working at Amoco/BP.

Paul's highest purpose was to share the love of God found in Christ Jesus. He faithfully read the entire Bible each year, and prayed for his family, friends and other people he encountered in his daily life. His ministry included leading Bible Study with the men at Cenikor and working with The Gideons International. Paul was a member of Deer Park First Baptist Church and the Silver Set Sunday School Class. He gave himself generously and faithfully to the visitation of elderly family and friends.

Paul's enthusiasm for the study and memory of God's Word and his personal relationship with Christ Jesus was the source of his joy for living. Next to Christ, his life revolved around Bernadette and his family.

Services for Paul were held on Saturday, September 23 at the Grandview Funeral Home in Pasadena with visitation from 9-10 a.m. followed by the service at 10 a.m. with Pastor Dale Smith officiating. Burial was at The St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Columbus, TX.

Serving as honorary pallbearers for Paul are George Holmes, Aubrey Ward, Aaron Troyer, Barry Seabranch, Troy and Kyle Hogue and Mark Mitchell.

"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." Psalm 116:15

Not sure what to say?

October 17, 2017

I am very sorry I could not be there today to support my sister, Bernadette. Of course, she knows I love her and I deeply grieve for her loss. I, too, lost my spouse years ago and I wish I could say that the sadness eventually goes away. Well, it gets better with time, but it never goes away entirely and I am so sorry for Bernadette's loss.

Paul was her love and I know she will miss him every day from here on. He was a remarkable man and I don't think I ever met a man who was more generous than Paul in so many ways, large and small. The way he treated our Daddy was memorable. He was wonderful in this regard and he treated everyone with such kindness. Moreover, he was a religious man and he wore his faith on his sleeve. He was a true witness of the love of Christ and Paul had the courage to show it to all.

I know the old Shakespearian quote has been used before in situations like these, but I would like to repeat it to Bernadette: "When he shall die, take him and cut him out in little stars, and he will make the face of heaven so fine that all the world will be in love with night and pay no worship to the garish sun."

I just saw this and I am shocked and heartbroken. Your father was one of the most kindhearted and loving man I have ever met in my life. He always had a twinkle in his eye when he was with you, Aaron and Natalie. The love he had for his family was so strong. I will forever keep him in my heart. Prayers for all of his family to be strong and to find courage to forever celebrate his life with beautiful memories.

Cheryl and family, I'm praying for God's blessings over your family during this sad time. I never had the joy of meeting your father but from all the comments I see on Facebook and the entries here you were blessed with a wonderful Father. Big hugs and God bless all of you.

Paul was our boss at Amoco Chemicals back in the 90s. He was great to work for. I don't think I ever saw him angry or raise his voice, and he was always ready to go to bat for us. If I had to choose a time to go back to in time it would be that Olefins project working for Paul. If I can get it to work I'll attach a picture of him visiting us in the construction trailers. Always professional and a gentleman.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
I worked with Paul for Amoco. He was wonderful to know and to work with; he always treated people with kindness and respect. He set the bar high for morals and ethics and become a role model for me. I am honored and enriched by having known him, and will miss him.

Paul Hogue was my boss back in the old Amoco days. Besides being a great engineer, he was a compassionate man with a great sense of humor. His love for the Lord was manifest by his ministry to others, his memorization of many passages in the Bible, and his powerful prayer life. He was great example and mentor to me. Deepest condolences to Bernadette and family.

My memories of Paul are from our childhood, and all of them are happy. Our family spent Christmas with Uncle Joe and Aunt Ruth, Paul and Joe Jr. in Pasadena when Connie was just a baby. These are wonderful memories that are flooding over me today. My sincerest sympathy and love go out to Bernadette and family.
