Phyllis Irene Thomas, known to friends and family as Irene, 80, of Davenport, Oklahoma, passed away on April 3, 2012, with her family by her side.
Irene was born October 13, 1931 in Coldwater, Kansas to James and Dorothy Land. Irene lived in Wichita, Kansas before relocating to Pasadena, Texas in 1974 where she remained until 2009.
Irene worked for many years at the American Legion post #490 and then after retiring went on to work for SAM's Club in Friendswood, until 2009. She loved to travel, enjoyed ocean cruises and sky diving. Irene was a long-term member of the American Legion and Amvets of Pasadena.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James O Land and Dorothy Hormel of Carmen, Oklahoma; sister, Margaret Ward of Carmen, Oklahoma; husband, Gene of Pasadena, Texas; daughter, Sharon Love of Coldsprings, Texas and great-great granddaughter Izzabella Arlington.
Irene was a very proud mother and grandmother. She is survived by her sons, Ronald Hickman and wife Kathy of Davenport, Ok; Brian Galentine and wife Jo of Cottonwood Falls, Ks.; James V. Hickman and wife Twila of Kansas City, Kansas; grandchildren, Randy Schmid, Danny Hickman and wife Sue, Michelle Muckleroy and husband Brian, Michelle Murray, Luke Murray and wife Robin, Deanna Robb and husband John, Trey Love, Shannon Covert and husband Alan, Mike Mayes and wife Jane, Tim Hickman and wife Amy, and Cody Hickman and wife Leticia; great grandchildren, Kayla Andell, Robert Andell Jr., Madison Sills, Logan Murray, Shena Lujan, Trevor Hickman, Katie Hickman, Josh Mayes, Emyly Schoneberg and Henry Hickman; great-great grandchildren Kaydence and Kylie Coleman; son-in-law, Joe Love; niece, Melanie Russell and many loving friends.
Irene loved people and truly enjoyed being around her friends and family. She will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed.
