Ray D. Thompson, 82, went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2014, surrounded by his wife Dorothy and children. He passed away from injuries that he sustained in a fall on Mother's Day. He is survived by his bride Dorothy Thompson, daughter Dorothy Johnson, sons Mike Thompson and Ray P. Thompson. He was born October 19, 1931 in Houston, Texas. His greatest accomplishment was being married to his devoted wife, and life partner for 63 years. Ray and Dorothy were childhood sweethearts from the time they met while attending 5th grade at Incarnate Word Academy in downtown Houston. They were married June 1, 1950 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, as they were also life long members of St. Pius Catholic Church. His hobbies were tinkering in his beloved workshop, where he could fix anything. He loved his dog, who was his long time companion. He received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army as a member of the 82nd Airborn. In 1959, he joined the Pasadena Police Department. During his career he was credited for saving several lives. He once got into a chase where he was shot at while pursuig a kidnapping suspect. Roy received several Letters of Commendation, Meritorious Awards and Officer of the year from several organizations, including the American Legion and from the Pasadena Jaycees. Later on in his career he was promoted to the rank of a Detective Sergeant. He attended Sam Houston State University, where he became a Certified Polygraph Examiner. He was also assigned to the Poice Academy where he gave polygraph exams to new recruits. Ray has fought hard when his health started to decline over the past few years, but never gave up because of his loving and devoted wife, who never left his side. Now he will rest in peace in Heaven with his beloved dog, Kandy. He was cremated and a Funeral mass was held recently.

I am so sorry to hear about Ray's passing. My parents always thought the world of both Ray and Dorothy. He is in a greater place hopefully sitting around with my dad telling jokes and laughing. My prayers are with you and your family!
