Robert M. "Buddy" Bratcher Jr., age 55, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 in Houston, TX. Robert was born in Pasadena, TX, on January 2, 1959 and graduated from Deer Park High School in 1978. Robert is survived by his father, Capt. R. M. "Bob" Bratcher, Sr. and his mother, Mellie Thweatt Bratcher. He is also survived by his sister, Dr. Beth Spragins, her husband Charles and his nephew and niece Owen and Olivia. Other survivors include his uncle Tom Bratcher, Jr. and wife Carol, aunt Peggy Rodriguez, cousins Tom Bratcher III and wife Teresa, Don Bratcher, Capt John Bratcher and wife Rory, Dr. Becky Daley and husband Bruce, Michael Stone and wife Michelle, Elaine Tinsley and husband Richard and many other cousins and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents, Capt Tom Bratcher and Margaret Bratcher and Frank Thweatt and Berenice Thweatt. Robert is also survived by his first mother, Carole Mather and husband David and her son David. Buddy enjoyed a full life with interests in classical music, electronic devices, old movies and his part time job with Smith Protection Services. Robert had difficulties to deal with in his life but steadfastly maintained his independence. Robert was a Christian and that was very important to him. Robert was greatly loved by all who knew him. A "Celebration of Life" service will be held on Saturday, February 1st at Deer Park United Methodist Church, 1300 13th Street, Deer Park, TX 77536. Visitation will be at 1:30 pm with the service to follow at 2:30 pm. The church sanctuary is looped for the hearing impaired. The family thanks Rev. Deborah Proctor for facilitating this service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Autism Speaks (www.autismspeaks.org), DPUMC Memorial fund or a charity of your choice.
