Robert Lee Simmons went to be with Jesus on April 9, 2014. He was born August 7, 1948 to Vernon and Norma Jean Simmons in Wichita Falls, Texas. Left to cherish his memory are wife Kathryn Lynn Simmons, and children Kenny Albert Barclay, Shirra Anne Herron, Dawn Renee Soileau, Sheri Lynn Simmons, Daniele Elizabeth Simmons and Kendra Lee Simmons; grandchildren, Nicohlas, Christopher, Nathan, Tristan, Mason, Bret, Annabelle, Sebastian, Lane, Westen and Jaxsen; sister Frances Elledge (Sissy); nieces and nephews Jeanie, Mark, Chandra, Cary and Curt; cousins Beverly and Alan; numerous friends and extended family. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Norma, and children Samuel and Kandice.
Robert proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He spent his time fishing with his friends, Charlie and Ernie. Robert also enjoyed hunting with his grandsons and family. In his early years, Robert enjoyed a career in bull riding. He was an accomplished welder for many years and retired from Chevron Phillps as a lab technician.
Robert was known by many names: Son, Husband, Dad, Papa, Pops, Brother and Uncle Bubba. He was a man of many stories that were told through his words and animated hand gestures. Dad, I miss you greatly and am so proud to be your first born daughter. You will always be my hero. I will see you again. I am trying to get back to a normal life before you got sick, but don't know how to do that yet. I miss our talks on the phone everyday. You are still my rock and will always be. I love you so much and am glad I was holding your hand when you went to see our loved ones in Heaven. Tell them I said I love them. You were a wonderful father and I honor you.

Robert I knew you since high school, visiting and running with Dewayne Curry. Then many years later our paths crossed when we worked together in the lab.We had retirement places only miles apart, it is a small world. It was fun to enjoy those years, see you on the other side, my friend, Love Vonnie Gunter

I am in shock over the lose of such a sweet man. He always greeted me with a hug and a smile. I grew to call him "pops" in a very short time, that is how welcoming he was to me. Loved to hear his stories and watch him as he told them. Such a man will be missed. Rest in peace Pops.
