Betty-Lou TERLINDEN Obituary

TERLINDEN, Betty-Lou Palmer

Betty-Lou Palmer Terlinden, 76, of Pasadena, passed away peacefully at Royal Gardens of Camarillo on July 4, 2015, due to a failing heart and multiple sclerosis. Betty-Lou shot for the stars as we celebrated the United States' independence from Great Britain. If you knew Betty-Lou, she would not have had it any other way.
Betty-Lou (née Palmer) was born October 21, 1938, in Chevy Chase, Maryland, to Hugh Sydney Palmer and Floy Lee McCauley Palmer. She graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in 1957 and Sullins College for girls. At the age of 16 while attending school, Betty-Lou worked for the federal government as an office assistant. Later, she would take up employment as an executive assistant to the director of JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) and NASA, serving 20 years. One of her great accomplishments in life was being part of the great team putting the first man on the moon and many Apollo missions.
Betty-Lou was an extravagant lady to say the least. She enjoyed dancing and singing. She never walked by a pianist without asking him to play a song so she could sing. This would often embarrass her two young boys, Etienne and Hugh. What kind of mom breaks out in song in a restaurant? She was talented, and looking back, ads a smile to her boys' faces. She was a Rockette, performed with Up With People, was a competitive downhill skier, world traveler, and, of course, a loving mother.
Betty-Lou was married to Baudouin Terlinden of Brussels, Belgium, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Pasadena, California, and is survived by her two sons, three grandchildren (who lovingly called her Grandma Boo), and deeply loved in-laws. She is also survived by her niece, Bobbi Younker. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Shirley Palmer Jones.
The family wishes to thank all the kind hearts, doctors, nurses, and staff at Royal Gardens of Camarillo who helped Betty-Lou through her later years in life.
Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Betty-Lou will be laid to rest next her beloved mother and father.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that a donation may be made to Dyslexia International, dyslexia-international.org, the Navy SEAL Foundation, navysealfoundation.org, or
Special Operations Warrior Foundation, specialops.org.

I'm so sorry to hear about BettyLou. She was a good friend of my late husband Chris Shea that just passed away March 8 2016 at age 53. They were good friends. I often wondered how Bettylou was doing, she just moved away from the area. She was a funny and delightful friend. She will be missed. My condolences to the family.
