Mildred Stark Obituary

Mildred Feinstein Stark

Mildred Feinstein Stark passed away shortly after midnight on November 14, 2013, peacefully in her bed, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Brooklyn, New York on May 10, 1916, Mildred, known by most as Millie, was the widow of Morris Stark who passed in 1989. Morris was the owner of several of Long Beach's favorite watering holes and her husband of 50 years. She is survived by two daughters, Ciel Dylan and Charla Howard, both of Long Beach, California. Her third daughter, Jessica Poppler, passed away in 2005. Four grandchildren also mourn the passing of their dear grandmother: Ina Parker of Brooklyn, NY, Roger Howard of Lakewood, CA, Geoffrey Poppler of New York, and Roland Poppler of San Diego. She also leaves behind one great grandson, Arthur Parker of Brooklyn. She leaves two surviving siblings, Claire Engelberg and Herbert Feinstein, both of the S.F. Bay Area, to whom she was especially close, and a wide circle of longtime and cherished friends and extended family members. Millie was beloved by all for her kindness, generosity, quick wit, good taste and overall classiness. She was a great cook and homemaker and for many years worked as a sales representative and interior designer for Lloyd's of Long Beach. She always persevered in life with strength and dignity and will be missed by all whose lives she touched. It is suggested that all donations in honor of Millie's life be made directly to a person or people whom you know who are financially stretched and may be worrying about holiday or everyday expenses. That would be in keeping with Millie's favorite charitable practices.

Aunt Millie was always the chicest person in the room, without even trying. She never colored her hair and went to a barber shop. Her home was warm & welcoming with delicious food. I showed up on her doorstep and stayed with her for two weeks, that changed the course of my life.

correction "my father who has been gone"

Charla Howard

I will think of my mother every day for the rest of my life. Our relationship was so close that I sometimes think we merged selves. Anything that's good about me likely derived from my father, who's be gone twenty four years, and for a number of reasons probably moreso my mother. For her endurance, strength, humor, intelligence, and thereness, always and forever...
