Sister Alice Pare SUSC

1920 - 2018

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Sister Alice Pare (Sr. Lucilla Maria) SUSC of Madonna Manor, North Attleboro died on January 14, 2018 at the age of 97. She was born in Pawtucket, RI on April 7, 1920, daughter of the late Rodolphe and Diana (Larocque) Pare. In addition to her Holy Union Sisters, several nieces including Sr. Gertrude Pare, SUSC of Tewksbury, nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews survive her. Her sisters Rolande LeClair, Lucille Pare, Anita Pierce, Claire Stratigakis, Theresa LeClair and brothers Maurice, Gerard and Lucien Pare predeceased her.
Sister Alice graduated from St. Cecilia High School, Pawtucket. She entered the Holy Union Sisters on January 23, 1937, and pronounced her final vows on August 15, 1944. She attended Sacred Heart School of Education and received a Bachelor of Science in teaching degree from Catholic Teachers College, Providence, RI.
Sister Alice's teaching career spanned nearly forty years. She taught elementary grades in schools staffed by the Holy Union Sisters in Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island. When she left teaching, she served as administrator for the Holy Union Sisters retirement community at St. Mary's Convent, North Attleboro. In 2000 she joined the Holy Union Sisters living at The Landmark, Fall River. In January 2017, Sr. Alice celebrated eighty years as a Holy Union Sister. Recently she moved to Madonna Manor, Attleboro due to failing health.
All funeral arrangements will take place on Friday, January 19 at St. Mary Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro. The wake is at the church before the funeral from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. followed by the Memorial Prayer at 10:15 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
