David Schnorf

David Edgar Schnorf, 72, passed away Wednesday September 19, 2018 at his home in Pearland, TX. His wife Cynthia, daughters and brothers were with him. He had been battling cancer since 2008.

David (he preferred "Dave") was the second of 4 sons born to Burl Schnorf and Marjorie Baker Schnorf of Charleston, IL. His parents and older brother, Stephen Schnorf, are deceased. His 2 younger brothers, Marty Schnorf of Mattoon, IL, and Jim Schnorf (and wife Karen) of Longwood, FL, are still living. He is survived by his wife Cynthia Williamson Schnorf of Pearland, TX; their 2 daughters, Jamie Schnorf Barge (and husband David Barge) of San Antonio, TX, and Kimberly Schnorf Wetsel (and husband Chris Wetsel) of Richmond, TX; and 4 grandchildren, Carson Wetsel and Karaleigh Wetsel, and Ryan Barge and Amelia Barge.

Dave was born and raised in Charleston, IL. He went to the EIU Lab School through 9th grade, and then to Charleston High School graduating with high honors in 1964. He attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL and studied chemistry and mathematics. He joined the Phi Sigma Epsilon (Delta Chapter) fraternity when he was a sophomore and participated in intramural sports and other Greek activities on campus. After his graduation in 1968, Dave married his college sweetheart, Cynthia JoAnn Williamson of Windsor, IL, and moved to Houston, TX. There he started his business career as a chemical plant chemist for 3 years, and then spent the next 43 years working with technical laboratory, process control, and production instrumentation in the capacity of technical sales/support and sales management. He worked for some of the largest companies in that business and his customers included some of the biggest names in the oil & gas and chemical industry. He enjoyed his work and was very successful at achieving business growth, being responsible for some of the top sales results, and accomplishing a number of "firsts for their products" in those organizations. He attributed his success to being technically knowledgeable and working for good companies that made quality products which allowed him to provide outstanding service and support to his customers. He retired at 68 due to medical reasons. Since then he spent his time enjoying his retirement by traveling and spending time with his family.

Dave often mentioned that he felt very fortunate and lucky to have lived such a wonderful life. He felt that family was the most important thing in life and that he had really been blessed with his wife, children, and their families.
