Nick Elliott, age 87, of Pensacola, took his last breath on earth to take his first breath in Heaven to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, December, 2, 2009. Mr. Elliott retired in 1976 after operating his self employed service station in Brownsville known as "Nick's Gulf Service," a place many called their second home, including his many racing friends. Many referred to him as "Daddy Nick."

Dear Elliott family, I will always remember Nick as a sweet, kind and gentle spirit with a good soul. Although I am still in Houston my heart is there with you all. I had a conversation with Nick about 2 months ago. I asked him about a medical test that had gotten rescheduled. As he sat in his recliner and I on the couch he smiled at me and calmly answered, "You know I don't really need to take that test. I've lived a good long life and when the good Lord gets ready for me i'm goin on with him." He spoke with confidence and was surrounded by peace. I looked at him and said your tired aren't you and he said "I sure am". The thing about death is that we are all going to that place. Nick knew where he was going when that day came. Nick has eternal rest now and he is weary no more. To Sheryl and Teryl, you were so blessed to have him and I know that you loved him with an endless love. To Johnnie, you brought him such happiness and comfort toward the last years of his life and you loved him dearly. I am sad at your loss. He was a good man.
I will miss him and remember him always. With all my love and love from above, Margaret Brady

Dear Sheryle and Terryle,
We just heard of Nick's passing on Saturday evening, well after the funeral. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Your dad was like Santa Claus... happy, jovial, and kind to all. We know that you will miss his laughter and joy. His beautiful blue eyes always seemed to shine as a way to share his good heart, which he did so freely with everyone he came in contact with. He will be missed by many.
