Robert Breaker Obituary

Untitled ROBERT RAY
BREAKER, JR.
AUGUST 28, 1943 -
JANUARY 7, 2010

Robert Ray Breaker, Jr., beloved son, father, husband, and faithful Gospel witness, peacefully left this earthly veil of sorrows and went home to the loving arms of his blessed Lord and Saviour on January 7th, 2010, suffering a hemorrhagic stroke, which robbed him of his ability to speak, but left him alert enough to fellowship with family for two days before peacefully and painlessly succumbing to the inevitable end of all flesh.
Born on August 28th, 1943, in Houston, Texas, Robert enjoyed an early childhood by the water in Seabrook, Texas, fishing, sailing, and partaking of the joys of God's plenteous and bountiful pleasures that only the peacefulness and serenity of the ocean can supply.
Robert has a rich heritage with Germanic roots. As a distant descendent of European nobility, he can trace his ancestry back six generations in the United States, with relatives even fighting in the American Revolution.
Robert comes from a long line of ancestors who were either Ship Captains, Baptist ministers, or both, settling in South Carolina.
Robert was proud of his Southern heritage. His great-great grandfather even said the opening prayer at the first meeting of the secession of the South in Colombia, South Carolina. After "the War of Northern Aggression," Robert's ancestors moved to Houston, Texas, where his grandfather and father were born.
Robert joined the Air Force in 1965 where he married and later moved back to Texas with his wife to attend the University of Houston, where he studied Pre-Med, and Meteorology, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Arts in 1971. Robert then moved to Panama City, Florida, and anchored as the chief weatherman for several years.
In 1975, Robert bought waterfront property on Garcon Point, in Milton, Florida, where he built his own home, and carved a fruitful and fulfilling life for himself, often fishing with a 1500 foot gill net right off shore. He also opened a health food store on 9th Avenue in Pensacola, and is most known for being kind enough to give vitamins and minerals and bibles to those with physical and spiritual needs. He also had a passion for sharing the truth of God's word with people. He's most known for helping people in any way he could.
In 1990, Robert met the love of his life, and wife of 19 years, Gloria Brooks. They married 9 months later and he told her often, "I just don't think I could have made it without you!"
Robert enjoyed the Gulf Coast, and is known for his avid passion for fishing. Red fish, grouper, mullet, and sheep head were his favorite. Robert is better known for being a "fisher of men," as he always witnessed to the lost, stressing their need of salvation, and pointing them to the shed blood of Jesus Christ as the only means of forgiveness. His favorite verse was Romans 3:25, and the words "...through faith in his blood," meant everything to him.
Robert is survived by his mother, Lucy Breaker; his wife, Gloria; and his children, Robert R. Breaker, III, an ordained Baptist minister and missionary evangelist, Kristina Kay Chambers, resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tammy Roberts of Pea Ridge, Lorie Arnold of Milton, and Nancy Kent of Brewton, Alabama.
Robert is best known for his godliness, grace, giving, and genuine love for people.
His life is summed up best in the words of a fellow family member, "What a witness!" "Asleep in Jesus! Blessed Sleep!
From which none ever wake to weep;
A calm and undisturbed repose,
Unbroken by the last of foes."
