I was a part of the wonderful Haughn family while living in Northern Indiana. James was such a distinguished, intelligent man, full of charm, kindness and humor. I have so many great memories of visiting his office in Wabash and spending special times with the entire Haughn family, especially involving singing the Beatles! I am terribly sad to hear of James's passing and send my love and prayers to Bonnie, Jim, Ross, David, Erin, Sabrina, Beth, Finn and Mahala. With much love.

I was saddened when I read of Jim's passing. So many memories from our childhood days. I loved the picture of we piano students with Fern Culp! As an adult, Jim was a well loved doctor and raised a wonderful family. You were blessed, Bonnie Mae, and may your memories and the Lord's comfort sustain you during this time.

Dr Haughn delivered our son September 21, 1976 at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He told the nurses that our baby was the prettiest baby he ever delivered! I'm sure he said that about every baby; but he made a lasting memory for us! You have our deepest sympathy.

Crossing the Bar

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

Bonnie, Children and Grand Children,

I have so many great memories growing up with Jim as my classmate and best friend throughout elementary and high school. Among many memories are singing together in our barbershop quartet, The Fresh Ayres, shearing sheep together, and playing in a piano trio with Melvin Peterman.

I grieve Jim's passing. This leaves a hole in my heart, but the happy times we spent together will stay with me forever. I look forward to seeing Jim again on the other side. What fun we will have reminescing about all the great times we had together on this side.

You and your family are in my prayers for comfort.

I am sorry to hear of the good Dr. Haughn's passing. He was my Dr. for a time and I always appreciated his honest opinions and advice; he saw me walk through his doors with symptoms that covered a very wide spectrum and he treated them all; he was very knowledgeable. He was also a father, grandfather and husband to some of the best people I've ever met.

Many times that I would be in his office, he would pull out from a drawer in one of the patient rooms a picture or artifact from one of his children; for instance, I remember a picture that a young Ross drew of a lion done in the medium of crayon. It was always endearing that he had things like that laying around in seemingly random places and he knew exactly where they were.

My condolences to Dr. Haughn's entire family.

To Bonnie and your family,
I am so very saddened to learn of Jim's passing. He has always had a special place in my memories of our youthful years (and you too Bonnie). Three of us guys sharing a piano bench and playing those trios for Fern Culp, our singing quartet, and, of course some of the high jinks (mostly on my part) that we shared. And then there was that motor scooter---kids, ask your mother about it!

You all have my most sincere condolences.
