Katie Forsythe Mikel of Petaluma died Wednesday August 18, 2021. She was 40 years old. She grew up in Novato, graduated from San Marin High School and the University of California, Santa Barbara. She worked for Maverick Media in Santa Rosa as Promotions and Events Assistant; reported traffic and Hollywood news for the media company's radio stations; and was promoted to mid-day DJ for rock station "The Fox." Later she worked for Steward Property Services, Inc., Sterns Lending and Sierra Pacific Mortgage. She also worked for V & R Solutions, Inc., California Artisan Cheese Festival, Studio Fit Petaluma and Picnic Potential. Katie was appreciated for her comical wit and observations and whimsical thank you cards. A fan of popular music, she easily rattled off music trivia and complete lyrics to a variety of songs. She loved literary classics; gardening; motorcycle riding; hiking; exploring any beach; and relaxing at the Russian River. She relished opportunities to dress up for Halloween, Bay to Breakers and Christmas parties. She cherished her friends and was a devoted mother. Katie is survived by her husband, Christopher Mikel and her son, Charlie Mikel; parents, Daryle and Kim Taylor; sister, Marjorie "Gita" Taylor; grandparents, Larry Husband and Frank and Betty Taylor; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Her grandmother, Diane Husband, died in 1993.
A celebration of life is set for 12 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Stafford Lake, Novato. Arrangements by Parent-Sorensen in Petaluma.
