Billy Holbert Obituary
Billy was born on January 30, 1932, in Pitt County, NC, to Herbert and Ella Holbert. After serving two tours in the Navy during the Korean War, he graduated from the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary with a degree in accounting. Upon graduation, Billy was employed with the state of Virginia as an auditor. He then spent several years at A. Lee Rawlings. In 1977, he opened his own accounting and consulting firm in Virginia Beach, now called The Accounting Group, where he served the Tidewater area for over 40 years, until his death.
Billy is survived by his son, Larry; granddaughters Elizabeth, Kathy, and Amy; two great-grandchildren; his brother Richard (Lilia); and special friend and business partner Charlyne Murphy. Billy was predeceased by his first wife Jean (James) Holbert and their sons Christopher, David, and Ronnie. He was also predeceased by his second wife JoAnn (Roberts) Holbert and their daughter Linda.
A memorial honoring Billy's life and legacy will be held on December 14, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at People's Baptist Church, 1200 Cedar Rd, Chesapeake VA 23322. You may offer condolences at www.kellumfuneralhome.com

Billy and I became friends the first time I met him. My husband felt the same way. He was so friendly and professional. I've been his client since 2006 . I could call him at any time for anything and he always had the answer. I will miss him dearly.

Billy was my tax accountant for 40yrs. I also was his auto mechanic. He always had a good attitude. He always had a story to tell. I will miss him. He always answered any questions I had,

I will miss you, Billy. You were one in a million, one of my exceptional patients. I'd bet you were at work, sitting at your desk when you took your last breath. You were so wonderful to me and I so very much appreciate all of your special favors from the bottom of my heart. I know Charlyne doesn't know what to do with herself.
