Doris Park MacDougall Winn

Norfolk - Doris Park MacDougall Winn, 89, passed away in her sleep on Thursday, June 11, 2015. Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Frances Park MacDougall and James Edgar MacDougall. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Edgar MacDougall, Jr. Doris graduated from Central High School in Charlotte, NC. She had a B.A. in Sociology from Queens College. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. For many years she served as a social worker. Doris enjoyed being a member of The Garden Club of Norfolk, The Garden Club of Virginia, and The Garden Club of America. She was a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames, the Board of the Women's Auxiliary of Norfolk General Hospital, and The Junior League of Norfolk.

She was a member of the committee which planned the first Norfolk Azalea Festival. She was a faithful member of The Church of the Good Shepherd where she served on the Altar Guild and taught Sunday School. Doris enjoyed traveling all over the world, but her favorite place was North Carolina.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill; her daughter, Lane Winn Rothschild and husband, John of Columbus, Ohio; her sons, William Carter Winn, Jr. and wife, Dorothy and James MacDougall Winn and wife, Gail; five grandchildren, Ginny Rothschild, Drew Rothschild and his wife, Natalie, Virginia, Kendall, and Anna Winn; one great grandchild, Gabriela Rothshild; and a special angel and friend, Margaret Keys.

The family would like to thank hospice nurses Tom and Laila and all of the caring staff at Harbor's Edge.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015 in The Church of the Good Shepherd, 7400 Hampton Blvd., Norfolk, Virginia. A reception will follow immediately at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity. H.D.
