Jason Lewis Obituary

Jason Q. Lewis passed away Thursday, March 24th, 2022, at the young age of 44 with his beloved partner, Julie Watson, by his side.

Jason was born on April 22, 1977, in Norfolk, VA. He worked as a well-respected Supervisor in Parks and Recreation for the City of Virginia Beach for 25 years. He had a passion for nature and loved being outdoors. In the summer, most of his free time was spent enjoying the beach.

Jason and Julie were together for over 24 years and have a (superhero) son, Layton Lewis. Jason was a proud, wonderful, and fiercely dedicated father. He lived for his family and was the best father a son could ask for (hunting for ladybugs, playing many sports, and being his crime-fighting partner in the many Marvel characters they played). Since becoming a father, he was given a new appreciation and love for life and loved family more than anything in this world. They were an inseparable trio who loved being outdoors. They often called themselves the three musketeers.

Jason possessed calmness and compassion for others along with deep love of family and friends which only enhanced his core values and guided his life's journey to teach and mentor all that came to know him. Jason achieved his happiness and cherished life, work, and love of family and lifelong friendships.

In addition to Julie and Layton, Jason is survived by his Mother Karen Russell & (stepfather) Joe Russell, Father Edward Lewis, and (stepmother) Victoria Lucente, sister Tara Russell, and nephew Christopher Ytuarte. He was predeceased by his sister, Amber Lewis.

To honor Jason's memory, we are holding a celebration of his life on Thursday, April 7th at 4:30 pm at H. D. Oliver Funeral Home, 2002 Laskin Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23454. The family will be accepting visitation one hour prior to the service.

People wishing to pay tribute to Jason's passion for protecting our oceans can make donations to Surfrider.org.

Jason was my first friend when we moved to Chesapeake. He was kind and generous when I needed a friend the most. I wish I could have been there to celebrate his life with everyone. He was a nice person and my heart still breaks for him and his family when I think about him.
