Phillip Keeter Obituary


Phillip Lee Keeter Jr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Phillip Lee Keeter Jr., 84, went to be with the Lord July 17, 2008. He was born in Franklin Sept. 20, 1923, to the late Phillip and Etta Keeter Sr. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Phillip was a founding member of Diamond Springs Baptist Church. He was very dedicated to his church and participated in numerous activities. Phillip enjoyed working out at the gym and spending time with his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Keeter; stepmother, Doreatha Keeter; and two sisters, Mary Young and Lois Young. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of nine years, Rubye Keeter; son, Phillip Lee Keeter III and wife Yvonne of Georgia; two sisters, Margaret Bowden of Carrsville and Phyllis Story and husband Gilbert of North Carolina; five grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Diamond Springs Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Warren Skinner. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Farmer Christian Academy c/o Diamond Springs Baptist Church. You may offer condolences at www.mem.com.
