Robin Sherman Obituary
Chesapeake - Robin Leigh Sherman, 71, of Safety Harbor, FL, passed away on December 31, 2017 surrounded by his family. Robin was born in Norfolk, VA, on America's day of Independence, July 4th, 1946, to the late Elizabeth Trankley McPherson and Norman Leigh Sherman. He was also predeceased by his step-father, Earl "Pop" Floyd McPherson and his grandmother, Katherine "Tink" Gross Strickland.
Robin lived in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, VA, before finally settling down in sunny Florida. Always the athlete, he loved the rigors of football, wrestling and track. In 1964, his senior year at Oscar Frommel Smith High School, he was voted "Most Outstanding Athlete". After high school, he attended Old Dominion University.
Robin served his country proudly as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. He would go on to co-found Chesapeake Bay Corporation, a land development company that completed many projects around the Hampton Roads area.
Robin's true passion was boating and fishing. He loved taking his family boating in the beautiful Chesapeake Bay and always looked forward to deep sea fishing adventures with his brother Ricky in the outer banks of North Carolina. Robin also enjoyed relaxing scenic car rides on sunny afternoons, sporting events and cinema.
More than anything else, Robin loved his family. He is survived by his loving wife Sheila Thorp Sherman, son Robert Baynes Sherman; daughters Robynn Leigh Taylor, Kari Ann Sherman, Erin Elizabeth Possert (Nathan); six grandchildren: Brandon Addison Bundick, Leighann Elizabeth Bundick, Nathan Andrew "Drew" Possert Jr., Lily Elizabeth Possert, Nataleigh Ann Possert and Mason Van Possert; brother Ricky L. Sherman (Barbara).
Everyone who had a chance to be a part of Robin's life were truly blessed. He was a very kind and gentle soul. Robin is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the Kingdom of Heaven and will be loved and missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service for Robin Leigh Sherman will take place January 20, 2018, at 12pm at Dobie's Funeral Home in Tarpon Springs, FL.

Sorry to hear of Robins passing. Lots of memories from high school and good times in Portlock during our early days. I am sure he will be greatly missed by all.
