Abby´s name means father´s joy and indeed Abby was the joy of her entire family, two grandmothers, two parents, one brother and four adoring sisters. I am the second sister and I was eleven when Abby was born. We were all delighted to have such a cute little baby in our family and we had enormous fun with her. She was born one of the nicest, most generous people I have ever met and she was that way all her life. Each sibling had a unique and special relationship with Abby. We still talk about her frequently and often have new stories to tell. But the old ones give us enormous pleasure and keep her alive for us. And we still miss her terribly. I love you Abby!

I am profoundly saddened by the loss of my dear dear friend, and deeply regret that I have been so out of touch that I've only now become aware of her leaving us. I am flooded with so many warm memories of times together in Berkeley and Bernal Heights, in Burlington, in Westport, in the Hudson Valley. Abby was unfailingly kind, generous, patient, and GOOD. She made the world a far better place. Those of us whom she touched will never forget her giving spirit. I am grateful to have had such an incredible and loyal friend. I will keep her memory alive always.

I first heard Abby's name while working at the Howard Center years ago. Many of my clients had multiple emotional and medical needs and some often felt frustrated with the inattention and disrespect they felt they rec'd from providers. Gradually some of those same clients were lucky enough to find themselves in Abby's care and expressed such relief and appreciation for her kind, respectful, candid attention. She was a model for other providers and a gift to her patients and to our community. She will be well remembered.

As an area physician for many years, I heard Abby Hale's name over and again from patients... how well cared for they were by her; how skilled she was in helping them; how she was loved. I was terribly sorry to hear of her illness some time ago, and hope her passing was gentle. My very best to her family.

Her patients so loved her and her legacy lived on at Safe Harbor, where I worked for 5 years (after her time there). My deep condolences to her family.

Abby: I cherish memories of coming to the TC Williams High School for concerts when you were a student there. I regret that we did not see each other often in the recent past.
