Donald Dansby Sr.
PEORIA - Donald D. Dansby Sr., 87, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
He was born on October 9, 1929, in Peoria to Burley and Ida (Lance) Dansby.
He is survived by his four children, Donald (Barbara) Dansby Jr. and Darla (Stanley) Jones, both of Peoria, Martin Dansby of East Peoria and Michael (Tracy) Dansby of Pekin; six grandchildren, Kimberly, Michelle, Jenelle, Amanda, Jennifer and Robert; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his companion, Linda Frampton; one brother, Edward Dansby; and one sister, Fern Wrenn.
Donald was a stationary engineer at Northwoods Mall, retiring in 1987. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Knights of Columbus St. Jude Council and American Legion of East Peoria and was a Red Cross blood donor for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and horses. Donald was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved his Saturday evenings at the Legion and his annual Army Reunion. He was a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017, at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, one hour prior to services at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.
