I knew Don while I was growing up in Macomb. My earliest memory was the 2 on 2 football games in our back yards throughout grade school with Bob and him. In the winter my brother and I also enjoyed the occasional snowball fight between their snowfort and ours. Don was always fun to be around. He will be missed by many and my thoughts go out to his family.

I met Don in 1980 when I spent a wonderful year with the Wylie family in Macomb. I’d never had a big brother, and Don took on and kept that role, complete with constant teasing but always in good fun. Don was also a great friend to my husband Chris, who joined in several of the Myrtle Beach golfing get-aways while we lived in the States a few years ago. Farewell, our dear friend and love to all who will miss him so much.

The memory of a champion will remain; only the remembrance of the great; Who remembers Michael Jordan as a Wizard; Only magical was he when he won 6 with the Bulls; The Red Sox after a century, now two in the last five; A legacy of a great team rekindled; The New York Giants overcoming all odds; An Apollo team with all the right stuff; For Wylie who had the heart of a champion; His remembrance will remain with the greatest.

I only had the enjoyment of spending time with Don a few times, and with that experience, as well as my indirect knowledge of who he was....as a man, a father, a husband, an uncle, and a friend....I know what a truly great person he was, and how much he meant to those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all, and my thoughts and prayers are with his entire family.

Our Softball team has lost a great baseball mind and teammate. Apollo Messenger has lost it's guide. The Business world has lost a leader. Our circle is incomplete without him. Donny... I have not only lost a great friend, but a voice of reason for my hairbrain ideas. You are missed tremendously! Deepest Sympathies to Marylin and Stephanie from the Klaus Haus.

Uncle Don had a wonderful spirit and it was always clear he was well-loved by anyone who crossed his path. His pride in being a caring father and husband was evident to all. My prayers go out to Aunt Marilyn and Cousin Stephanie in the hopes that you won't hesitate to lean on one another and those around you for strength.

Don lived his life with a true gentleness and grace, and was definitely well-loved by his family. Of his two favorite women, Marilyn was his center, while Stephanie was his light. God be with you both at this time.
My sister sent me this photo of Uncle Don, from a New Year's Eve outing with the family a few years back.

When my wife and I were dating, she asked how I knew it was a good idea to become a business partner with Don when I had only known him for a short time. I thought for a minute and replied, "I just knew." Over the next 9 years, Don proved to be a wonderful partner, softball teammate, beer-drinking buddy, and most of all, friend. I think I admire him most, though, as a father to Stephanie. I miss you, brother. It won't be the same without you.

To my valiant sister, Marilyn, and her brave, caring daughter, Stephanie and Don's loving and supportive family and friends, my deepest sympathy. Our family has lost its hero. I see Don in God's arms, asking Sammie if she wants a "woop". We'll have our memories of all the good times and laughter with the Red Sox greatest fan.

Our family is so saddened to hear of Don's lost battle. It ouches our hearts, and all those who knew him, that he fought so hard. There are no words to truely express the shock and our saddness. He was so very special to us all. My new found nephew brought a lot of joy to our lives. We have the most wonderful memories of the times we spent together in Maine. We will never forget his warmth and charm. No on who ever knew him will ever forget him. Please know that you are not alone in your sadness and grief. We share your sorrow.
Our prayers are with you all.
With much love. Auntie
