Dear Jackie and family of Stan,
I felt privileged to be able to spend some time with Stan and get to know him. He was instantly warm, personable and, indeed, very likeable. I remember the first time I spoke with him on the phone after you two had married and were planning a trip to visit us. I inquired as to whether his food preference would be beef or chicken and he immediately quipped "What kind of chicken - I only eat the best! Would it be Rhode Island Red?" Well, that was just the first of his entertainment for me. I feel blessed to have known Stan and I know he is getting a lot of laughs in Heaven with his dry wit! Our love and sympathy to all.

I can't add much to the above. I agree with all Betty has said. Stan never gave up on the humor! Even after coming through a very difficult period in the hospital, he still tried to make us laugh. He will be missed very much.

To Jackie, I am so sorry for your loss. Stan was a wonderful man, as you know, he was one of my favorite drive-up people at the Better Banks . He will be greatly missed by me.

Our hearts are overflowing with thankfulness for Stan, a wonderful friend for almost 60 years. He was a great older big brother to me in our Delta Tau Delta fraternity at University of Texas, and a much loved roommate. We had hoped to have him visit us here in San Antonio, but now that happy visit will need to be postponed for another time and another place. Our hearts go out to Jackie and all those who love Stan so much. We will always remember his radiant smile and triumphant spirit. Doug & Betsy Nelson
