Douglas A. Hunter, 65, of Buck Township died Friday evening, Jan. 13, at Community Medical Center in Scranton. He and his wife, the former Denise Stout Hetzel, celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary on Dec. 7, 2005.
Born in Buck Township, he was the son of the late William and Grace Hughes Hunter.
He was employed for Fiesler Sign Co., Old Boston; Asplundh Tree Service, Willow Grove; and last, for Scranton Auto Parts in Scranton.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his daughter, Michele Hunter and her fiancé, Thomas Kuchinski, of Blakeslee; stepsons Wayne R. Hetzel Jr. of Hanover and Michael C. Hetzel, at home; stepdaughter Lisa and her husband, Shawn Ziegler, of Old Forge; grandchildren Thomas C. and Emily Ziegler of Old Forge and Kaylei Ziegler of Scranton; brother Milton Hunter of Ohio; sisters Irene Dotter of Albrightsville and Janet Chiniewicz of Hackettstown, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Janice Manfra, on Dec. 2, 1994; and brothers Leslie and Richard Hunter.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, from the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 South Main St., Plains, with Pastor Donald Vanderhoff officiating. Interment will be held in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park in Dallas.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 16, at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society, c/o 71 North Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
