Elizabeth Kann Obituary

Elizabeth (Betty) L. Kann (nee Hogarth), 56, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 25, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born in Aberdeen, Md., and raised in the Bristol area.

She is survived by her father, Ralph L. Hogarth of Stroudsburg; her mother, Shirley F. Hogarth Yates of Bristol; and three sisters: Shawnmarie Hogarth-Ceylan of Bristol, Kay Riffle of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Shirley "Tinker" Assal and husband, Dan Assal Sr. of Rockledge.

Also left behind to cherish her memory are two daughters, Nancy Sherbafi and husband, Ben of Canadensis, and Tracy Margle and companion, Robert of East Stroudsburg. Betty was known as "Bama" by her grandchildren: Amanda, Curtis, Adrian, and Madison Margle, Nathan and Colby Sherbafi, R.J. Coutts and Theresa Beverly Kirk. She leaves five nephews; six nieces; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.

Betty was a member of the 1st graduating class of Bishop Conwell High School in 1966. She was a longtime member of Bracken Cavaliers Junior Drum & Bugle Corps (Bristol, Pa.), marching in the Color Guard from 1958 to 1974. Most recently, she was a member of the Bracken Cavaliers Alumni Corps. She was looking forward to participating in the Corps 80th Anniversary parade and Reunion in October.

She was very giving of her time to the community through her involvement with Rebuilding together, Christmas in April of Monroe County and helping needy families during the holidays. She worked for many years for the Pocono Mountain Vacation Bureau, Shared Ride and as a housemother in group homes for the mentally and physically challenged.

She will be loved and missed by many.

The Reverend Father Alfred Vito will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at Saint Bernadette's Church in Canadensis. Burial will follow.

There will be a viewing from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 and 390, in Paradise Valley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Attention: Development Office, One Kroc Drive, Oak Brook, IL 60523.
